About me
Hi! I am Rens, an enthusiastic and sociable computer scientist. I graduated on the 19th of August 2025 from the University of Twente.
I'm years old and my best-enjoyed activities include sports, cooking, programming, and learning new things - skills, languages, tricks, or random, fantastic facts. I enjoy thinking about the technical and philosophical parts of artificial intelligence, and replicated Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction for my Master's thesis.
I also enjoy writing robust software. “move fast and break things” works fine for webapps, but I am more interested in the situations where we cannot break things. Cases as critical canal locks failing due to old software that nobody understands; an enormous reliance on US-built software that can arbitrarily deny access to mail or bank accounts; or the Dutch tax authority being unable to change the taxation rules due to IT debt massively interest me: cases where software plays a crucial role.
I am an optimistic person and believe humour and having fun is a great way to solve problems. Check my Projects or Writing to see some of the things I've made. If you place 1997 ellipses somewhat intelligently, I look like this.
